Happy New Year!

I had trouble posting again…I’m in Sint Maarten today and all of the commands are in Dutch! I really need to memorize the order of these buttons…

The Christmas cruise has been going well. I wasn’t too sad on Christmas day. As I mentioned before, I saw my family a few days before that, so that was my Christmas. I was really busy on Christmas morning, when I would typically be opening presents with my family, so I didn’t have time to think about it. Then I had a gift exchange with my friends. I finally had time to call my parents at about 9:00 at night. I talked with them for awhile before heading off to the all crew ice skate.

As far as I can remember, that was the first time I was on ice skates. Two members of the ice cast were my teachers- Sebastian and Yebin. Who better to learn from than the pros? I started out holding both of Seb’s hands as he skated backwards. Then I was skating with Yebin holding one of my hands and arm to keep me up. Before long we were only holding hands and then she skated away and I was on my own. I didn’t fall at all. The sports supervisor had to catch me once, but in my defense, he was the one that knocked me over.

I went to church later that night before heading up to the lounge to see if anyone was still out…they weren’t. That was about 2:30 in the morning.

The next day was Barbados. I went to beach known as The Boatyard. I had been there breifly before, but I spent most of the day there this time. They have a huge pier you walk out on and either jump off or take the rope swing off. I did both…twice…it was awesome.

Then I had my second trip to Dominica. Previously Dominica had been my least favorite port, but I went on an excursion this time and the interior is beautiful! I took some pictures on my phone, but I don’t have the gear with me today to post those…sorry.

Yesterday was Antigua. I got off the ship and ate some lunch then got right back on and worked all afternoon. I’m trying to get caught up on all the extra Christmas editing I have this cruise.

Today is Sint Maarten which is my favorite Caribbean island. It’s so friendly and nice here…and everything is within walking distance from the ship. I had lunch with dancers before enjoying some quiet internet time before heading back to the ship shortly.

Quote of the cruise runner up this week goes to a guest talking to me on formal night: “If you weren’t the same age as my granddaughter, I’d flirt with you.”

Quote of the cruise goes to ice skater Brad. I was having dinner with Brad and his pairs partner Tosha when Brad said, “Tosha and I had a really great fall in our show yesterday. And my “Tosha and I” I mean Tosha. And by “Fall” I mean I threw her.”

Well, that’s about it. I’m making my first trip to St. Kitts tomorrow. Then it’s 3 (maybe 2) sea days back to Bayonne, but we can’t get off the ship becuase we leave immediately after the guests are gone to head to dry dock. Then it’s dry dock for 10 days before we get some more guests and go back to our regular runs. That means I may not post again for quite awhile.

Happy New Year everyone!
