Officially One Month!

I just reread my last post and I apologize for the poor spelling and grammar. Hopefully you got what I was trying to say. I right these in Word when I have free time on the ship, but I post them when I’m using free wifi in my home port. I’m usually in a hurry to get back to the ship after spending most of my time on the phone that I just copy, paste, and post- foregoing the proofread. My apologies- I will try to do better. I was just thinking that I may be getting dumber since coming to work here (I thought that on the road too). Suspicion confirmed.

I celebrated my first month working on ships this week. Two days ago to be exact. It was an anniversary full of mixed emotions. On one hand, I am assured that the worst is behind me. My safety and HR training is all complete now so I should have more free time. I know my way around the ship much better than I did on October 10th. I have a core group of friends. I only have 5.75 months to go!

On the other hand, I was hoping to know a lot more about my job at this point than I do. I still get lost more than I would like or I simply always take the same route and don’t know other ways to get to my destination. I was hoping to have a much larger friend base and at least one close friend. I still have 5.75 months to go.

It still feels like my first week in a lot of respects. I still ask a lot of questions. They still call me newbie. But I have definitely made progress so I will be content with that and keep working and moving onward.

I had my last trip to Bermuda for this year (we begin going back in April I believe). It was cold and windy. By Pennsylvania standards, it was beautiful! By port of call standards it wasn’t a very nice trip. Whenever the weather is not good I feel bad for the guests. I will be back here again in nice weather, but this may be their only vacation for the year and they spent it on rough seas and in cold, windy, rainy, Bermuda.

I went to Horseshoe Bay again in Bermuda. This is the same beach I went to on my very first cruise. It is a beautiful pink sand beach. I didn’t notice the pink sand before, but I paid more attention this time- it is very unique and gorgeous. Last time I didn’t swim, so I was determined to get in this time. It was very cold! After I got in, I realized that I have never swum…wait…swam?…swimmed?….I have never been swimming in an ocean (contrary to a video resume I once filmed where I accidentally said I swum/swam/swimmed in every ocean). I’ve walked into the tide of both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, but I’d never fully gone swimming until this trip. That fact amazes me- 46 states, 2 other countries, 4 tropical islands, and I’d never been swimming in the ocean? Well I guess I can cross that off the bucket list. I’m now one step closer to dying.

Thanks for reading. Feel free to leave some comment love.
